Petrol Stone Saws
Portable Petrol Engined Stone Saws
For cutting stone, bricks, and blockwork on construction sites a portable petrol engined saw is one of the tools of choice for the professional tradesman and builder. This piece of equipment is versatile by being able to be used in a wide range of applications as well as being safe to use in weather conditions where electric tools cannot.
The most common form of portable petrol stone saw is the range of two stroke machines which utilise a 300 to 350mm diameter cutting blade.
In the Uk there are several different brands freely available to buy with the stihl ts410 being the most popular. What makes this machine the favourite is its all round stone cutting performance along with its high build quality, dealer service back up, and affordable price. Fitted with a high power output two stroke engine this saw is capable of cutting all standard stone based building materials including asphalt, brick, concrete, and composite materials.
Second in popularity in the Uk is the well known petrol stone saw manufactured by Makita; the current model being the DPC 6410 version. Similar to the stihl machine the Makita DPC 6410 is powered by a powerful two stroke petrol engine coupled to a belt drive which in turn drives the abrasive or diamond blade fitted to it.
Although high in build quality and providing effective cutting in stonework, the DPC 6410 falls behind the stihl machine in the all round use ability of the saw. Having a compact size and with good weight distribution the ts410 is easier to use especially when angled cuts need to be made in paving and blockwork. For straights and especially when working at floor level the dpc6410 from makita though is a good alternative.
Hire Or Buy?
A question which should be considered for the regular user of a stone saw is whether to hire or buy such a unit.
Useage and available funding needs to be taken into consideration as to which is the best choice here. For regular users and tradesman the purchase option is probably the best route to take. If purchasing funds are limited or a stone saw is only needed occasionally then the decision should be made to hire one instead. If hiring is the preferred choice a stone saw can be obtained from a local tool hire shop specialising in this type of equipment.
Where To Buy A Stone Saw From?
Petrol engined stone saws such as the stihl ts410 can be purchased from a wide range of tool and equipment sales outlets. Being a petrol powered piece of equipment it is recommended the unit is bought from an outlet which provides a back up service for spares and consumable items as well as offering a competitive purchase price.
Service back up on this type of equipment should always be available as will be required at some pont in the machines lifetime. Spark plugs, air filters, pull cords and other components are all consumable service items which will wear and require replacement at timed intervals depending on the saws useage. An outlet which sells spares and also offers a repair and service facility is a more favourable place to buy your chosen machine from.
